We are very excited to announce the first annual bicycle ride fundraiser for The Well In The Desert. We will be hosting a bicycle ride here in Palm Springs Called “Palm Springs Cycle Mania”. Our beautiful Desert is one of the most pristine places to bike ride in all of Southern California and we are going to take advantage of that beauty by having this bike ride through the desert. There a few ways in which you can participate and we invite you to be creative... create a team at your place of work, get your family to have a team, maybe just a group of friends who would like to do the ride and train together. |

There will be 5 levels of bike rides, so you can set a goal to do whichever level you choose, and build up to that level by training prior to the day of the ride which will be November 17, 2007. There will be a 5 mile ride, a 10 mile, 25 mile, 50, and 100 mile ride, you choose your own level. Think about it... you can help raise money for the poor here in our valley by riding and at the same time it is great exercise and excellent for your health.
I know people in their 70's and 80's that still ride a bicycle, so this is a sport of longevity. My own personal story is that I began riding about 9 or 10 years ago when I set a Goal to do the California Aids Ride which was from San Francisco to Los Angelesin 7 days and over 550 miles. Well, I did the ride and am still riding to this day 9 years later. It is a great way to get outdoors and participate in an exercise that is low impact on the body. So as I began to say there are a few ways to participate, number one, you can pay an entry fee, become a sponsor for the ride (donating money to help us offset the cost of the ride), or raise money from friends and family or co-workers to do the ride. If you raise at least $200 you will receive this year's Palm Springs Cycle Mania bicycle jersey. |
